Walk through this narrative experience of Wellington through the urban landscape.
Identifying the different characteristics of Wellington through three precincts within central Wellington. The Social: Courtney Place, Local: Cuba Street and the Industrial: Lambton Quay. The redesigning of Wellington City Central Library begins at the arrival of the building. The facade integrates into the Mt. Vic mountain line view and opens up into the Wellington Harbour. Moving forwards into the social space of Courtney Place in the lobby. Many paths redirect you into small alleyways, where you find cozy enclosures; a replication of the local interactions on Cuba Street. Going up the ramp and elevators to discover quiet pockets within the sea of books to study and hangout. Alas before reaching the large open atrium on the other side. Linking the city with the sea, through a forest of books in a street like way.
